Windows that open and close

The right answer at the wrong time is the wrong answer.

A 40% transfer bonus from Chase to British Airways lasts 12 days. You find out on day 13. An ANA First Class seat opens 330 days before departure and gets booked within hours. Your Amex airline credit resets January 1 - you remember on January 3. In points, knowing what to do is half the battle. Knowing when is the other half.

The Problem

The right answer at the wrong time is the wrong answer.

01

Transfer bonuses appear and vanish.

Chase, Amex, Citi, and Capital One regularly offer 20-40% bonus points when you transfer to specific partners. These windows typically last 7-14 days. If you transfer 100K points during a 30% bonus, you get 130K miles. Miss it by one day, you get 100K. Same points, 30% less value.

02

Award availability is a moving target.

Airlines release award seats on specific schedules - typically 330 days out for most carriers. The best seats (First, Business) go fast. If you're not looking on the right day at the right time, the seat you want books for 60,000 miles or doesn't exist at all.

03

Credit resets happen on invisible calendars.

Calendar year, cardmember year, quarterly, monthly, semi-annually. Your credits reset on different schedules depending on the issuer, the card, and the specific benefit. There's no unified calendar. There's no reminder. There's just a deadline you forgot.

04

Application timing determines approval.

Chase's 5/24 rule: if you've opened 5+ cards in 24 months, you're automatically denied. Apply on the wrong month, you're locked out. Apply strategically with the right spacing, you can cycle through the best signup bonuses systematically.

How First Officer Helps

This is what changes when you have an advisor.

01

We monitor every transfer bonus across Chase, Amex, Citi, and Capital One.

02

Alerts the day a bonus opens, not the day after it closes.

03

Award seat availability tracked for your specific routes and dates.

04

Credit reset reminders before the deadline, with the exact action to take.

05

Application timing guidance: when to apply, what order, why it matters.

06

The calendar you didn't know you needed. Running 24/7.

Are there any transfer bonuses right now I should know about?
Two active right now: 1. Amex MR to Virgin Atlantic: +30% Ends this Friday. Your 60,000 MR becomes 78,000 Virgin Atlantic miles. That's enough for ANA Business Class roundtrip to Tokyo. 2. Citi TY to Avianca LifeMiles: +25% Ends May 28. Your 40,000 TY becomes 50,000 LifeMiles. Good for Star Alliance partner awards. My take: The Virgin Atlantic bonus is exceptional. If Tokyo is even a possibility in the next 12 months, transfer now. These points don't expire with Virgin.
